Text messaging and opt-in

What these texts are

Local service businesses (plumbers, HVAC, cleaners, dentists and others) use Seyclops to text their own customers, about a service those customers booked or received. Seyclops (Fify Now LLC) sends the texts on the business's behalf, and every text starts with the business's name. The texts are:

Message frequency varies, usually one to four messages per service. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, HELP for help. Consent is never a condition of buying anything.

How customers opt in

A customer gets texts only after agreeing to them in one of these three ways. Seyclops records which one, and when.

1. On the business's online booking page

Every Seyclops booking page asks for the customer's mobile number and, on the same form, shows this box right below it. The box is unticked and optional; without it, the customer gets emails instead and is never texted. This is the exact form, shown for an example business named Coastal Air HVAC:

A separate, also unticked box asks about occasional offers. Marketing texts go only to customers who tick that one.

2. In person, at the end of the job

The technician or office asks the customer, using the business's real name:

“Coastal Air HVAC would like to text you one link to leave a quick review of today's service, sent through our review software Seyclops. It's one text plus at most one reminder. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP anytime to opt out or HELP for help. Is it OK for Coastal Air HVAC to text you?”

Only customers who say yes are added. Before Seyclops will text anyone for a business, the business owner or a manager must confirm in the app: “My team asks every customer, by name of our business, whether we may text them a review link (one text plus at most one reminder), and we only add customers who say yes.” Each customer's consent (how and when) is stored on their record.

3. The customer texts the business first

If a customer texts the business's Seyclops number, the business replies to that conversation only.
